Implant CAD design is where small errors cost the most: a misangled screw-access channel or a wrong emergence profile means a remake, not a revision. Outsourcing implant CAD design to a team that works across the major implant systems every day means your lab can quote implant cases with confidence, without carrying that specialist expertise in-house.

Implant systems and scan bodies we support
Our technicians design daily across Straumann, Nobel Biocare, Zimmer Biomet, Osstem Implant, Dentsply Sirona and BioHorizons, plus most major scan-body libraries. Tell us the system and platform on submission and we match the interface exactly — no guesswork on the abutment connection.
Both screw-retained and cement-retained restorations are part of the standard service. Screw-retained is our default recommendation for retrievability unless your prescription specifies otherwise, and custom Ti-base abutments — titanium, zirconia or hybrid — are designed as a matter of course, not a special request.
What's included in every implant CAD design case
Every case returns a custom abutment design, a screw-retained or cement-retained crown or bridge STL, and a screw-access channel report so your milling technician knows exactly where the access point sits before production starts.
That is the core of what implant CAD design outsourcing solves — consistency at any volume. For cases that involve more than a single unit, our full-arch CAD design service takes over once the restoration spans a full arch, so hybrid and bar-supported prosthetics stay with the team built specifically for that workflow.
Quality control and turnaround
Every design is checked for emergence profile and soft-tissue contour, screw-access channel angulation, abutment wall thickness and retention, and interface fit to the implant platform before it is marked ready. Standard turnaround is 8 to 12 hours for single-unit cases, with multi-unit and hybrid cases quoted individually on submission.
Revisions are unlimited within the original case scope, and that includes scan-body library corrections at no extra charge — if the wrong library was selected on submission, we fix it rather than sending the case back to you.
Getting started
Most labs new to implant CAD design outsourcing start with a single trial case to check margin quality and turnaround against their own standard before routing regular volume through the portal. Export your scan with the implant scan body seated, note the system and platform, and a technician picks up the case the same day.
If your case mix leans toward crown and bridge or removable work instead, our full services overview covers the rest of the CAD design workflows we support.
Why labs and clinics outsource implant work
Implant cases carry more risk than routine crown and bridge work, which is exactly why many labs keep sending them to a senior in-house designer even when volume elsewhere is outsourced. That approach caps how many implant cases you can accept in a week. Working with a team that designs implant restorations across six major systems daily means the same rigor applies whether you send one unit or twenty.
Clinics that scan chairside but don't have implant-specific design experience on staff face a similar bottleneck — the scan body library and screw-access geometry differ enough between systems that a general CAD designer without implant-specific training can misjudge the angulation. Routing implant cases to a specialist team removes that risk without adding headcount.
Every implant case we deliver goes through the same senior review before it's marked ready, regardless of system or restoration type — a second set of eyes on the interface fit and screw-access path, before your milling unit ever sees the file. That review step is standard on every case, not an optional add-on, and it applies equally to single-unit and multi-unit implant submissions.
